Conclusion
Stage 2 of OWCS 2026 has not disappointed - competition has been tight across all regions, with formerly undefeatable teams showing signs of weakness as dark horses grow into true contenders. Our final round of playoffs just finished up a few days ago, so here’s your look at the full set of teams entering the Midseason Championship!
These sixteen teams are being split into two equal groups, who will compete across the three-day Groups Stage to determine which half of each group advances to Playoffs - and which half goes home.
In EMEA, OWCS fans were treated to one of the most explosive domestic playoffs we’ve ever had. Virtus.pro proved themselves to be a cut above the rest with an undefeated Stage run - but they were far from unchallenged! Geekay Esports are entering MSC right on their heels as one of the strongest dark horse teams we’ve ever seen in OWCS, period. Every playoff match they played went the distance, including the Lower Bracket Final that knocked our reigning World Champions, Twisted Minds, down into the region’s 3rd seed.
North America had its fair share of surprises, too - while Spacestation looked revitalized all Stage long with an undefeated regular season, their shot at a perfect run was dashed by a resurgent Dallas Fuel, who came back from their Round 1 loss to Team Liquid with a salty runback for the ages.
In Japan, one team has stood above the rest for a good while, now - and that’s not showing any signs of changing! VARREL swept past Murash Gaming 4-0 to secure their domestic championship, and their region’s spot at MSC. This long-standing roster core has become synonymous with JP Overwatch - but will they be strong enough to rise above and shock the competition at MSC?
The Pacific region had an explosive finale to determine their MSC representatives, with Team Secret narrowly defeating SHENGSHI to take their domestic crown. Longtime OWCS and Overwatch World Cup fans will recognize this roster’s raw talent, with veteran tank player Riley “cuFFa” Brown and multiple representatives from Teams Thailand and Singapore punching their tickets to Paris!
In Latin America, cross-regional super-team 9z Globant crushed their way past their fellows in FACEIT League to earn the region’s spot in Paris. Longtime fans might recognize a few names on that roster, too - and no matter how they do at MSC, we know they’ll be a team to watch!
China’s Partner Teams all showed up in a big way on the path to MSC - fan-favorites Weibo Gaming only dropped four maps the entire Stage on their way to a #1 seed, with three of those coming from our #2 team, JD Gaming. All Gamers put up a fight against JDG in turn, taking them to Map 5 in their Lower Bracket Final match.
Finally, Korea enters the Midseason Championship as the region to beat, with Crazy Raccoon auto-qualifying into the #1 seed overall thanks to their Champions Clash victory in May. As defending Midseason Championship title holders, Team Falcons also auto-qualified to this year’s tournament, but their first-round fallout in Korea’s Stage 2 Playoffs means 13th overall is where they’ll stay as we look to the start of the tournament. ZETA DIVISION secured the region’s top spot with their Grand Finals qualification, and put up a convincing 4-2 victory over Crazy Raccoon in those Grand Finals to boot! They’re joined by T1 in Korea’s 2nd slot, thanks to their 3rd place finish over ZANSIDE Gaming.
The 2026 OWCS Midseason Championship is one of three opportunities throughout the year for teams to mark themselves as THE definitive top dogs in Overwatch Esports. Competition begins at 3am PT/12pm CEST on all five days of competition - July 29 to August 2.
The first three days make up the Groups Stage, with our sixteen teams split into two groups of eight. All Group Stage matches will be Ft2, with twenty total matches determining the four teams advancing from each group. Those eight teams will face off in the Playoffs Stage, where a Ft3 single-elimination bracket and a Ft4 Grand Final will decide our Midseason Champions!
Our two Midseason Championship Groups will be determined via random draw, with a few guardrails in place to keep things fun, fair, and exciting.
Teams cannot be assigned to a group if half of the teams present in that Group are already from the same region - for example, if two EMEA teams end up in Group A, the third will be automatically placed in Group B. For purposes of the Group Draw, Team Falcons and Crazy Raccoon are in their own “region”, separate from OWCS Korea, and must be placed in opposing groups.
To celebrate and support our OWCS Partner Teams, the Radiant Order Crowdfunding Bundle launches July 21!
The Radiant Order Crowdfunding Bundle features skins, sprays, and icons for Emre, Ana, and Mizuki, as well as the Radiant Order Name Card and two shining weapon charms to complete your loadout. The bundle goes on sale July 21st, with a portion of all proceeds going directly to your favorite OWCS Partner players and teams!
*Platform fees, applicable taxes and any other deductions paid to third parties will be deducted from the sales revenue actually received by Blizzard to calculate the OWCS Partner Team incentives contribution.
